The cook in France

I am a cook with varied and eclectic interests and my little buddy will eat almost anything I cook. I don’t call myself a chef because I’m not that good, but I can do some cooking. I first discovered a love of cooking and that I could actually do it with Indian cooking and I still love making authentic curries (American “curry” made with apples and curry powder IS NOT real curry). This is a great way to cook my favorite meat, lamb. Well, I also love pork, so lamb has to share the honors with pork. I also love duck prepared in the European manner. Since then, I’ve expanded to many other types of cuisine, but I still can’t deep fry worth a damn.

I am also an anthropologist who specialized in sustainable agriculture and has an abiding interest in the archaeology and history of food and agriculture.

Making decent pizza dough is another major goal, as is making bread like what I got in France. Little Buddy is my incredibly spoiled dog, a mixed breed (Boston terrier, etc) that made me appreciate and love small dogs. She is the best dog I’ve ever had. Email me at virgil.huston1955(at)gmail.com.
