La Maison on Telfair is, bar none, the best restaurant in Augusta, GA. There is simply no argument on this. I plan to comment more on this in my “what is wrong with the American palate” series, but if you will be in Augusta on Sunday, November 14th, you need to make a reservation for this event. Not only do you get a great meal from Chef Heinz, you also get his wine pairings. His regular wine list has been commended in Wine Spectator magazine. La Maison is in an old Victorian house in downtown Augusta, it is elegant and comfortable at the same time. The staff is great and knowledgable (my daughter once waited table there and I hosted my parent’s 60th wedding anniversary party there, we took over the entire restaurant that evening).
Dress is normally business casual, but most men at the wine pairing dinner will be wearing coat and tie. It is not required, just no jeans or tennis shoes.
The dinner starts at 5:30 PM. Here is the menu.
